Day 3: Arusha National Park
After breakfast your guide will pick you up at your hotel and drive you to Arusha National Park, where your safari starts. This charming park has a rich diversity of landscapes and wildlife. From lakes, waterfalls and swamps to volcanos, mountains and tropical rainforest. They attract many beautiful birds including silvery-cheeked hornbill and thousands of pink-hued flamingos. This park is also the only place in northern Tanzania where you can easily spot the black-and-white colobus monkey.
One of the popular safari activities in this national park is a canoe or walking safari with an armed ranger. A great change to enjoy wildlife up close, from a different perspective than sitting in a safari vehicle.
Today is at leisure. You can choose to relax at the pool or go on one of the many activities, such as:
Mountainbike tour through villages and beautiful nature
Visit the Materuni Waterfalls at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro
Walking tour through coffee plantations
Visit local market
Nature walk or canoeing at Lake Duluti
Day 5: Tarangire National Park
Today you depart after breakfast to Tarangire National Park for a full day game drive. Since this is one of the less known parks in Tanzania, it still has an authentic safari atmosphere. The hilly landscape scattered with grand Baobab trees against the blue sky is breathtaking. Witness the world’s largest concentration of elephants. Herds of up to 300 elephants can be seen around the Tarangire River, drinking or enjoying a mud bath. Apart from elephants, Tarangire is a paradise for bird lovers. In the area around these swamps you can also see lions, leopards, cheetahs and even tree-climbing pythons.
Today you continue your safari in the Serengeti national park. Its stunning landscape can be seen in some of the most impressive nature documentaries. The endless plains and abundance of wildlife are unsurpassed. The annual wildebeest migrationwith more than a million wildebeest is probably the highlight of the Serengeti. It is a true spectacle and impressive to watch millions of wildebeest, zebras and gazelles thunder across the endless plains of the Serengeti. Together with your private guide you will be looking for the herds across the plains. Apart from the migratory animals you will also get to see lots of other animals, like lions, cheetahs, leopards, and many more. Expect to be impressed by the natural beauty of Africa’s most famous park.
If you like to watch wildlife from another perspective, we recommend you to go on a balloon safari. It is an amazing experience to drift silently above the plains with herds of wildlife.
After breakfast you will drive to Ngorongoro Conservation Area. On this route there will be a high chance of seeing a lot of wildlife. After arriving at the crater rim you will descend to the Ngorongoro Crater floor. The views are amazing! This collapsed volcano creates a unique ecosystem with a wide variety of vegetation. Enjoy the beautiful colors of the landscapes and the diversity of animals. The crater is home to the highest concentration wildlife in Africa and is full of elephants, lions, buffaloes, hippos and even the rare black rhino. This is one of the best places to spot all of the Big Five. The views from the crater rim over the crater floor are incredible. Because of its natural beauty the Ngorongoro Crater is chosen as one of Africa’s Seven Natural Wonders.
There are a range of activities to do in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, like visiting a Maasai village or the Elephant Caves.
Unwind and enjoy laid-back beach life on the tropical Zanzibar Island. Miles and miles of white sandy beaches dotted with palm trees, surrounded by the clear azure water of the Indian Ocean. These days are at leisure with no activities planned. You can explore the amazing coral reefs and swim among tropical reef fish. The beautiful beaches offer plenty of opportunities for surfers, snorkelers, divers and sunbathers.
