Your guide to Tanzania's wonders

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of Tanzania and our stay in Zanzibar. The lodges in Tanzania were unique. We started at Giraffe Manor, where you can feed the giraffes in the morning—a truly cool experience. The Foot of Africa Camp & Lodge was also beautiful, featuring a private plunge pool and views overlooking Lake Manyara and the banana plantations. Then there were the parks: Arusha National Park served as a warm-up, followed by Tarangire, before moving on to the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro Crater. Each one was magnificent. Naturally, we were deeply impressed by the Serengeti, but the Ngorongoro Crater was perhaps the most extraordinary place we have ever visited—with its diverse vegetation and such an abundance of wildlife! We had a wonderful guide, Peter, who knew the parks inside out, making us feel safe throughout the trip. He usually sensed exactly what we wanted to see, and whenever he was unsure, he would simply ask. One tip we’d like to share regarding the Serengeti is to make sure you go on a few early morning safaris (starting at 6:00 AM). Our guide felt this wasn't necessary since there are plenty of animals to see throughout the day—which is true—but if you want to see lions catching or eating their prey, or spot hyenas, setting out early is highly recommended. We visited during a season that made animal spotting a bit more challenging because the grass was still very tall. However, we managed to see the entire "Big Five," and the landscape was incredibly lush and green, so we felt May/June was a perfect time to go—just before the peak crowds arrived. Zanzibar was a lovely way to wrap up the holiday, though the transition from ultra-luxurious lodges to a fairly simple hotel took a little getting used to. That didn't bother us, though; the hotel was beautifully situated right on the beach, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We booked our excursions through the hotel manager (Farid from Dhow Resort) and would highly recommend doing so if you are staying at Dhow Resort in Jambiani. We went on some great excursions (a snorkeling trip and a Stone Town tour) that were half the price of those listed in the Africa Safari app. Snorkeling with dolphins was an amazing experience; otherwise, I wouldn't expect too much from snorkeling in Zanzibar, as all the coral is dead (likely due to the many boats). All in all, we had a fantastic trip. Tanzania is a stunning country with very friendly and hospitable people, and we would love to return someday. We also highly recommend traveling with Tanzania Specialist. It offers good value for money. The excursions on Zanzibar are a bit on the expensive side, but these are easy to arrange yourself. We would also like to give a special thank you to our guide, Peter, for the awesome safari, and to Farid from Dhow Resort for the well-organized excursions.

From the moment we were picked up at Kilimanjaro Airport, we couldn't have wished for a better experience. Our safari took us through Arusha National Park, Tarangire National Park, the Serengeti, and finally the Ngorongoro Crater. Each destination was unique, with its own spectacular landscapes and terrain, and every one was absolutely worth visiting. There was a lot of travelling, with some very bumpy roads and plenty of dust, but it was all part of the adventure and we had an amazing time. We were fortunate enough to see four of the Big Five. Sadly, the leopards remained elusive, but seeing a cheetah more than made up for it. Our accommodation throughout the week was excellent. It was wonderful to return each evening to comfortable rooms, delicious food, and a chance to relax after a day of exploring. But what truly made the trip unforgettable, was our fantastic guide, Lameck. Every morning our jeep was clean and ready for the day ahead and he was always punctual. More importantly his incredible knowledge, genuine kindness, and wonderful sense of humour made every day special. We laughed so much throughout the week and by the end of the trip we had made a friend for life. Thank you for an unforgettable safari—we couldn't recommend this experience highly enough.

Overall well run and organised. Our initial guide was very quiet and I wasn’t happy with so after an email a new guide was there the next day. All accommodation and different national parks were brilliant. Some moments I’ll never forget or see again . Serengeti and balloon ride were stand out moments for me but there were so many memories to treasure . The people of Tanzania have a beautiful way with them , always smiling. Food was mainly à la carte and pretty good. Make sure you take small dollar notes for tips as everyone expects tips really or the shilling. Hopefully return one day.

Completing a safari was a dream of mine ever since I was 10 years old. I always knew it would be a memorable experience, but I wasn't expecting my expectations to be exceeded - and that is what Tanzania Specialist did! From start to finish, the entire process was effortless and dealt with the utmost professionalism. I completed the tour as a solo traveller, but not once did I ever feel alone. My tour guide Jonas Loiruk Mollel was such an amazing travel companion. His wealth of knowledge made the experience so much more enjoyable and I've walked away not only speaking a bit of Swahili now, but also with so much information about Tanzania and the animals. No request was out of the question. Jonas went above and beyond to tailor my game drives according to what I wanted to see and thanks to his persistence, I walk away having accomplished my bucket list to see the Big 5. Yes there are early starts, yes the game drives are bumpy and dusty and the days are long and hot, but I promise you, you are well looked after with this team, and the minute you start seeing the animals- it all becomes worth it. I highly recommend adding the Miracle hot air balloon experience to your itinerary as well, as seeing an African sunrise over the serengeti is out of this world. The accommodation was exceptional and I walked into each new lodge absolutely blown away. All were extremely clean and the staff amazing and welcoming - the food was to die for too. Thank you to the team for making a 10 year old's dream come true, but most importantly thank you to Jonas. I have such a love for the country now and because of this experience, I will definitely be back to visit Tanzania again and cannot recommend Tanzania Specialist enough!

My husband and I chose the honeymoon package that had 6 days in Tanzania spent doing safari trips and 6 days in Zanzibar (total of 12 days). During our safari trips (through Tarangire, Serengeti and Ngorongoro) our guide Teodori was amazing. He took the time to explain the history behind each location and was very attentive to our wants for this trip (I.e; what wildlife we wanted to see) and went out of his way to ensure we were able to capture everything. He really tailored the trip to make sure we had the best experience, and it truly was a trip of a lifetime!

I was initially hesitant to book with Tanzania Specialist after reading some mixed reviews, but I decided to trust them for our honeymoon, and I’m very glad I did. Our experience was absolutely amazing from start to finish. First, our guide Roger Solomon was outstanding. We had specifically requested him after seeing a recommendation online, and he exceeded expectations. His English is a bit basic, so if you prefer very detailed explanations this is something to keep in mind, but if you’re easygoing and focused on the experience, he is perfect. He is kind, attentive, and has an incredible ability to spot animals. Thanks to him, we were lucky enough to see the Big Five. Of course, wildlife sightings also depend on weather, timing, season, and luck, not just the guide. The safari experience itself involves a lot of bumpy driving inside and between parks, with long travel days. A lot can also happen during safari travel, we saw several jeeps with engine issues or flat tires, and we even got stuck in the mud in the Serengeti at around 7pm for over an hour. However, to be honest, we are quite adventurous and we actually enjoyed the experience rather than getting annoyed. Life happens, and it becomes part of the adventure. Despite everything, the landscapes and wildlife sightings made it completely worthwhile, and every destination felt rewarding after the journey. The logistics were very well organized. From airport pick-ups to transfers between hotels and parks, everything was handled smoothly. Angel helped us arrange excellent accommodations overall—luxurious, comfortable, and with great food throughout the trip. We split our trip between safari and Zanzibar, which was the perfect honeymoon combination. One of the highlights of our stay was our stay at Zanzibar Sunrise at Bandas, which was an unforgettable place to end the trip, especially for the room with a pool, sea view, live music and atmosphere. For excursions in general, I recommend checking local companies or platforms like GetYourGuide, as they can sometimes be more affordable than booking through Tanzania Specialist. We used this approach for a couple of beach activities and it worked out great. One note: if I had to change one thing, I would choose a different hotel instead of The Seyyida Hotel in Zanzibar. We did have a 6h luggage delay when traveling from mainland Tanzania to Zanzibar, but that was due to the airline and not the company. Overall, the trip was an incredible experience. Riziki was very responsive throughout and always available to help with any questions. I am already planning to return with my family, and I would 100% recommend Tanzania Specialist and Roger Solomon as a guide.

My brother and I traveled with Tanzania Specialist from May 13–24, 2026, and had an unforgettable experience. Our trip included the Meru Waterfalls, Arusha Snake Park and Maasai Museum, Tarangire, Serengeti, and Ngorongoro parks, plus time in Zanzibar. Everything was incredibly well organized, smooth, and comfortable from start to finish. Our guide, Makalo, was an absolute gem — such a kind, knowledgeable, and fun person to spend six days with. He went above and beyond to tailor the experience for my brother and me, making sure we had the best opportunities to see wildlife and capture amazing photos and videos. The accommodations were very comfortable, and the food was consistently delicious throughout the trip. A special shout-out as well to the staff at Sounds of Silence — they were absolutely incredible and made our stay extra memorable. May turned out to be a fantastic time to visit Tanzania: cooler weather, fewer crowds, and only a bit of rain. We were lucky enough to catch the end of the Great Migration in the Serengeti and see so many baby animals! I would 100% recommend Tanzania Specialist to anyone looking for a seamless, personalized, and truly memorable trip to Tanzania!

We’re on our way home from two weeks in Tanzania. Ten days safari and four in Zanzibar we’ve had the most incredible time. Tanzania Specialists satisfied from A to Z, from our first enquiry to every other detail from arrival to departure. Our driver Spear amongst all the other staff was absolutely exceptional as a guide, historian and driver. His knowledge of the wildlife was outstanding with many funny stories. This trip of a lifetime has delivered on that promise, with not only the big five but a vast array of animals and birds. The hotel selection was excellent the Serengeti Sounds of Silence and the Park Hyatt Zanzibar were standouts in a five star list. Awesome views, private pools and excellent all round service was constant at all the accommodation. I would recommend Tanzania Specialists to anyone interested in an African trip.

Our trip organized by Tanzania Specialist was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. From the first contact while planning the trip to the final day, everything was handled professionally and smoothly. Their team was responsive, knowledgeable, and made the entire process easy and enjoyable. The safari portion of the trip was absolutely incredible. Visiting Tarangire National Park, Serengeti National Park, and the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater exceeded all our expectations. Each park offered something unique—from the majestic elephant herds in Tarangire to the endless wildlife and stunning landscapes of the Serengeti. Our guide, Makalo, was fantastic!!! Extremely knowledgeable, patient, an excellent driver and passionate about wildlife, made every game drive exciting and memorable. Ending the trip with a few relaxing days in Zanzibar was the perfect way to finish the adventure. The beautiful beaches, warm ocean, and laid-back atmosphere were exactly what we needed after the excitement of the safari. Everything—from accommodations to transportation and daily planning—was perfectly organized. We felt well taken care of the entire time. What an adventure! We went to Tanzania on our honeymoon and had such a positive experience! Tanzania Specialist were very adequate and professional from the start of our enquiry and we felt confident that they were the right choice for our trip. Albert from the office took a personal approach to look into all our requirements and preferences and booked us in promptly as per our wishes adding a few useful recommendations on the way. Upon arrival we were met by our key person - Frank and spent the following 7-8 days in his company - going on safaris in Tarangire and Serengeti National Parks and the Ngoro Ngoro conservation area and the crater. This guy was a brilliant guide and we had the luck to have him all for ourselves, as there were no other tourists with the same itinerary that week. Frank demonstrated exceptional competence about all species we saw during the safaris, knew his ways around the parks perfectly and his super friendly and humble attitude impressed us deeply. He is a real gem for the company! The places we stayed at were all incredible! Such comfort and authenticity everywhere - at each of the hotels and lodges and some amazing food too - especially in the Sound of Silence Lodge in Serengeti! The next part of our trip - in Zanzibar was no worse either, although rather different - after the busy days of safari, we had the chance to relax completely in the Fun Beach Resort on the coast of the Indian ocean enjoying a lovely huge pool and the perfect sunny weather. Our key person there - Ali also added to the positive experience we had - he proved as highly reliable and professional throughout our stay, accommodating all our requests promptly and with a friendly approach. Highly recommend Tanzania Specialist to anyone looking to experience the unforgettable adventure Tanzania has to offer!
