The Kilimanjaro Responsible Trekking Organization (KRTO) evolved from the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP), an initiative dedicated to improving the working conditions of porters on Kilimanjaro. KPAP ensures fair wages, proper gear, and humane treatment for the hardworking crews who make every climb possible. The hard climb couldn’t be achieved without the crew guiding us!

The International Mountain Explorers Connection (IMEC) oversees these efforts on a global scale, ensuring transparency and accountability in responsible trekking practices.
