The Entamanu Ngorongoro Camp is a lovely, intimate tented camp right on the famous Ngorongoro crater rim, but on the more secluded northern side. They say this is the only place where you can see the sun rise above the Ngorongoro Crater and set above the Serengeti plains. Mind you, Serengeti is still a fair drive away, but the views from this tented camp are definitely far and wide!
The seven double tents and two family tents of the camp are spacious and luxurious, with ensuite bathrooms providing hot water, comfy beds with hot water bottles, and a heater in the room for chilly nights (at this altitude!). Guests praise the food served as looking stunning and tasting delicious, and the common space with sofas and a restaurant as a great place to share stories with guides and other guests. Except for the stunning views, this camp is an excellent choice because of the short driving distance to the entrance of the crater. This means you can be the first ones on the crater floor early morning! A guided walk from the camp over the rim to a nearby Maasai village is also highly recommended, as you go with a Maasai guide who knows all there is to know about the plants, animals, and birds surrounding you. A wonderful experience!
