A little extra comfort
The Marangu route is the only route offering huts instead of tents for your good night’s sleep. So if you want to climb Kilimanjaro but are not that much into sleeping in the wild, Marangu is your route.
You sleep in bunk beds in dormitory style with Mandara and Kibo Huts having 60 bunk beds each and Horombo Hut 120 bunk beds. The only thing you’ll need to bring is your sleeping bag, everything else will be taken care of. You can expect simple mattresses and pillows, dining halls for all trekkers and basic washrooms. Sometimes there are even flushing toilets and running water. Wow, we know!
Here you can also buy candy bars, soft drinks and bottled water – the reason why this route is also called the “Coca-Cola Route”, if you want to impress your fellow hikers 😉
