Swimming with whale sharks

Near Mafia Island you can go swimming with the world’s largest fish – the impressive but gentle whale sharks that pass by the island from November to March. These gentle giants can grow up to be over 20 meters long, but despite their size they only feed on plankton and small fish. This makes it safe for people to join them in the water, swim alongside them, and observe them from under the water surface – an amazing experience!
