Between June and September, hundreds of baby turtles make their instinctive scramble from the white sandy beaches of the Mafia Archipelago, to the warm waters of the Indian Ocean. You can witness this natural spectacle on the eastern beach of Juani, a beautiful little island close to Mafia’s main island. After a short sailing trip and a 45-minute hike across this amazingly green island, you reach the beach where the little turtles are expected to hatch and start the next phase of their life’s journey.
