Near the archipelago of Mafia, you can witness the seasonal migration of humpback whales as they move between the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and the cooler feeding grounds closer to South Africa. Step on a traditional dhow to go spot these giants of the ocean. Once the whales are in sight the boat is strategically placed and the engine shut off, so you can hopefully watch them breach, throw themselves out of the water and land with a tremendous splash. An amazing experience!
